Customer Notes

There's no real way to make a mistake in this area since all of the customers want to go forward no matter what color they are. Anyway, here's how I usually choose customers here.

  • Your car will start the game where the @ appears on the ASCII map. When the game begins, select orange 4 as your first customer for a trip to Cable Car Top.
  • Also try to choose 6, 7, and 9 when they are yellow to go to Cable Car Top. Note that it's extremely rare for 7 to be yellow, so always look for that one first... FYI, choosing any of these when they're light-green results in a trip to either Sea Side Market or West Side Beach.
  • Choose 8 when it is dark-green for a definite trip to West Side Beach.
  • I leave the remaining customers in this area (1, 2, 3, 5) for when I have to make a passengerless trip from the Tennis Court. When this happens, try to pick up Customers 1 and 2 when they are dark-green to go to West Side Beach. If they're light-green (to Cable Car Bottom), I may skip them and pick up orange 3 or 5 instead to either Freshtree Street or Sail Street.
  • If after a drop-off here you see that none of the University customers nearby are good colors and have a fair amount of game time remaining, you can drive ahead passengerless towards the Cable Car Top location to pick up someone else.

Additional Notes...

  • If you've been Limiter Cutting at high speed to the University destination, use the telephone booth to help you stop. When your cab is about 7 or 8 car lengths away, execute a Crazy Stop and slam straight into it.
  • In the event you find yourself short on time when you're dropping off a customer at the University and the closest customers remaining are behind you (1, 2, 3, or 5). If traffic permits, it's possible to drive on the left side of the street and do a controlled Crazy Drift. By keeping the wheel held to the right you can make your cab "u-turn" into the University nook. This will both save you the time of turning around and earn you some extra tip money. Just start your Crazy Drift early so you won't wall-stick inside the nook. Also take care not to skid the side of your cab into the telephone booth or you might impact bounce off it.
